The invention of new fluorescence-based chemical sensor has facilitated the myriad potential applications such as monitoring oxygen, inorganic gases, volatile organic compounds, biochemical compounds etc, as the technology is versatile, compact and inexpensive in nature. Depending upon the vital criteria’s of accuracy, precision, cost and the ability to meet the environmental range of the intended application, proper sensor can be chosen for the military control based subsystem. Sensor web and video sensor technology are two widely applied sensor techniques, in which Sensor Web is a type of sensor network or geographic information system (GIS) well suited for environmental monitoring and control, where as video sensor technology is used for digital image analysis. In sensor web technology, we have a wirelessly connected shapeless network of unevenly distributed sensor platform or pods, which is very much different from the TCP/IP-like network with respect to its synchronous and router-free nature.
Because of this unique architecture every pod in the network knows what is happening with every other pod throughout the Sensor Web at each measurement cycle. The main requirements for a video sensor technology is an application software and a computer that acts as the carrier platform, which is usually equipped with a Linux or Microsoft operating system upon which the application software works. By programming the digital algorithms the interpretation of digital images and frame rates can be carried out. The video sensor is very much helpful in evaluating the scenes und sequences within an image section of a (CCD) camera.
